asi.jtran: asia b. jelks-tran

Oh hey!
My name is Asia Jelks-Tran, I was born and raised in Sacramento, CA by two crazy and fun loving parents Victor + Venita Jelks. In 2021, I married my best friend and soulmate Tony Jelks-Tran. By combining our last names we truly created a brand new legacy.

I fell in love with creating very early in life.
You could say being artsy comes naturally to me.
I’ve taken a total of 3 art classes throughout my education: basics, intro to drawing + ceramics (highly suggest for anyone at any age). For about 11 years, my creativity took a backseat in my life due to my love for playing soccer. Once that came to an end at age 20, I slowly started dabbling in the arts again and found my true love in painting (2017). My husband, who was my boyfriend at that time, was extremely supportive and continued to push me to go after my dreams. I’ve been diligent with my craft ever since! However, I don’t consider myself just a painter, I have love for many art styles and see myself as more of a creator. My creativity has so many avenues, it can be overwhelming but I know God called me to this. Whatever lies ahead I face it full on knowing I have God— and His plan for my life, is fail proof.

Thank you for your support, and as my beautiful Grammie always says: “remember that you are absolutely too blessed to be stressed”.

Artist Statement:

The glory of God can be expressed in an endless amount of ways.

Many will ask: well, what is the glory of God? It is the appearance and or manifestation of His excellence. In other words all that the eye can see: that means you, me and even the trees are classified as part of His glory. 

As an artist, I keep this in mind because it reminds me of how limitless I really am and that His glory is the source of my inspiration. The flow God puts me on can start from the simplest to the heaviest things but with either beginning, my desire remains the same: to create something that means so much to me then have that creation impact someone else in a positive way. Little do we realize how amazing that experience really is — to take the time to pour your soul over a creation and then have someone identify with your spilled emotions, even though it wasn’t written in words? Amazing.

My goal is to create something of beauty, to create something that leads to God some how, some way. At least this is what my art, my gift means to me.

All I can say is that when I create,
it is what God gives my soul.

    - In short: Romans 12:6-8 speaks to simply following Gods guide for your life, accepting + growing the gifts He has graced you with and to peruse it diligently in accordance to His will and plan for your life.
